  1. Asana – foundation poses, their alignment, benefits, contra-indications and sequencing to create a flow for both body and mind (includes Sequences)
  2. Developing the art of balancing alignment between the external and internal
  3. Pranayama – conscious breathing, and systematic training of the breath and mind, and their inter-relatedness
  4. Bandha – application of the three locks, and their deep impact on the mind/body for overall health
  5. Mudra – yogic gestures to help one’s inner alignment and ground the mind
  6. Yoga nidra – systematic de-stress of the voluntary/involuntary muscles by training the mind while resting the body

Self-study time is allocated each day.

Students are encouraged to read and absorb the information from the Teacher Training Manual and other texts as discussed during the classes.

Assignments are to be prepared during self-study time.

    1. Regular self-study should be undertaken with a view to completing a written exam at the end of the course.
    2. Learning to be fearless about the examination is part of your practice – appreciating that the exam is simply a process of acknowledging where your understanding is in this moment, and being genuine to yourself about this. It requires removal of the concepts of failing or passing.
    3. Sharing with others your experiences of seva (karma yoga) during your stay.
    4. After returning home, becoming conscious of developing an attitude of seva (selfless service) towards the people with whom you are living, so that you are practicing your yoga as part of your life.
    5. Evidence of a total of 40 hours of personal practice after the completion of the course to be provided by each student to the Vedic Yoga Centre before final Certification will be awarded.
